In 2021, the NC Billfish Series tournaments have teamed up with weigh masters Randy Gregory and George Lott to recognize and award the best tournament boats and anglers in North Carolina. The mission of the NC Billfish Series is to promote North Carolina’s billfish tournaments, sportsmanship, marine conservation and competition in our great offshore fishery. The seven NC Billfish Series tournaments wanted to keep the series format competition alive as has been done for the last 30 years. This Series is not managed or coordinated by the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries and Randy Gregory retired from state government in October 2020.  In 2023, 65 boats competed in the Series catching 546 billfish setting records for the number of participating boats and number of blue marlin caught (201). So with that…let’s lower the riggers and throw out the baits!
